The Cerro Varadero ( Spanish is) a 116 m high hill on the Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises on the Punta Varadero headland on the north side of the Byers Peninsula .
Spanish scientists named it after the name of the headland of the same name. Varadero refers to a shipyard in Spanish , but is also an adjective for "unemployed" or "insignificant".
