The Certified Senders Alliance (CSA) is a project of the Verband der Internetwirtschaft eco eV in cooperation with the German Dialog Marketing Association , which started commercial operations in 2004 as the first of its kind in Europe. The aim is to ensure that electronic mail , which is sent by reputable mass providers with the recipient's consent , actually reaches the customer and is not already filtered out by spam filters on the provider's servers .
Procedure
In order to guarantee the delivery of serious emails, the CSA maintains a positive list . Senders who want to be included in this list must meet certain criteria. The mandatory criteria, which in particular guarantee the legality of the offers as well as the clear assignment of the shipment, include: opt-in , imprint , revocation and unsubscribe function, clear identity, sole technical control over the shipping server, no other services on the shipping server, clear A. -Record & matching rDNS entry , correct WHOIS entries , list hygiene bounce handling, SPF & DKIM and list unsubsribe header.
In order to be certified by the CSA and included in the positive list, providers must apply in writing, provide examples of their services and implement the CSA criteria. A certification committee decides on admission. More than 100 senders have been certified by the CSA to date. There is a charge for inclusion in the list.
The CSA cooperates with the eco complaints office , where users can report violations of the CSA criteria. The CSA regularly discloses which providers have exceeded the permitted number of complaints or have been excluded from the positive list because of violations of technical and / or legal criteria.
The CSA positive list is used by the following providers, among others: AOL , Arcor , Freenet , Host Europe , Microsoft , Vodafone Kabel Deutschland and Pironet , the United Internet companies GMX , 1 & 1 Internet AG and Web.de as well as Yahoo and Yandex .
Once a year, the CSA Summit is a congress. a. is about current legal requirements for email marketing, for example the GDPR . In addition, technical requirements and trends in this area are discussed.
