history
The hotel was a 5 star. The operator, Thermal-Sport-Hotel Badgastein Gesellschaft mbH , was a 100% subsidiary of Nürnberger Versicherung from its foundation in 1982 to 2016 . The hotel offers sports, leisure and conference facilities and has hosted tennis and golf tournaments. On June 1, 2016, the Hotel Europäische Hof was sold to a new owner: Solution Holding GmbH, Munich; The operator is Fidelity Hotels & Resorts. The 5-star hotel became a 4-star superior.
Equipment and offer
The hotel has a total area of around 63,000 m². It has 111 rooms and suites with areas between 35 and 62 m² and a total of 222 beds. In addition, there are wellness, fitness and leisure facilities on an area of 5,600 m², including a thermal indoor pool . The offer there includes various medical treatments such as therapeutic baths, physiotherapy and massages.
The hotel offers space for meetings and conferences and, according to the Austrian industry magazine, is one of the top 100 seminar hotels in Austria. The company has won several awards in a row as the best training company in the state of Salzburg.
Until recently, there was a life-size sculpture by the composer Franz Schubert in the lobby , created by the artist Anna Chromy and unveiled on August 18, 2009. The statue has had a new home in Prague since April 27, 2017, more precisely: in the garden of the Academy of Arts. It was handed over to the public university by the owner, the Nürnberger Versicherung Foundation , at a ceremony.
Sporting events
The WTA women's tennis tournament Nuremberg Gastein Ladies was held annually on the hotel's own clay tennis courts from 2007 . In March 2016, the main sponsor Nürnberger Versicherung no longer extended the contract. The WTA tournament has been taking place in Gstaad, Switzerland, since then. On the 18-hole course opposite the Gastein Golf Club, the hotel hosted the Eagles Golf Charity Tournament in 2013 .
