Cezary Obracht-Prondzyński (2018)

Cezary Obracht-Prondzyński (born December 27, 1966 in Bytów ) is a Polish sociologist, anthropologist and historian. He is head of the Department of Social Anthropology at the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Journalism at the University of Gdansk . From 2005 to 2012 he was director of this institute. His research interests primarily concern the question of national minorities, especially the Kashubians . His book Kashubs Today. Culture, language, identity appeared in four languages.

In addition to hundreds of scientific articles, Obracht-Prondzyński also writes popular science and journalistic articles. From 1995 to 2000 he was the main editor of the monthly magazine "Pomerania". He is a member of several scientific societies, including the Scientific Societies of Danzig and Toruń ( Gdańskie Towarzystwo Naukowe and Towarzystwo Naukowe w Toruniu ) and Chairman of the Kashubian Institute ( Instytut Kaszubski w Gdańsku ). For the Polish Sociological Society, Obracht won the XVI. National Congress of Sociology. He is on the Board of Trustees of the Center for Social Research and Analysis ( Ośrodek Badań i Analiz Społecznych ) in Gdańsk and is a member of the Program Council of the Baltic Cultural Center in Gdańsk ( Nadbałtyckie Centrum Kultury w Gdańsku ) and the Pomeranian Civic Congress ( Pomorski Kongres Obywatelski ).

In Kashubia , Obracht-Prondzyński works on the Museum Councils of Wejherowo , Bytów and Słupsk and is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kashubian People's University ( Kaszubski Uniwersytet Ludowy ).
