The Chœur Gospel Célébration , completely Chœur Gospel Célébration de Québec , English Quebec Celebration Gospel Choir is a gospel choir consisting of about thirty singers in the Canadian province of Québec . It was founded on March 1, 2000 by the choir director Fernande Angers. The nationally known choir regularly performs at festivals, in churches, at events and on television.
history
The Chœur Gospel Célébration first appeared on Canadian television and at events in the province of Québec. Within a few years he gained a reputation that extends beyond the region through joint appearances with soloists such as Sylvie Desgroseilliers , Florence K, Johanne Blouin, Mélanie Renaud, Zachary Richard, Muna Mingole, Vic Vogel and Kim Richardson. By participating in events such as the Festival d'été de Québec , the Festi Jazz International de Rimouski , the Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France , the Festival Gospel de Repentigny , the Expo-Québec 2009 and the Mondial Loto-Québec de Laval , which the choir opened in 2009 together with the then 85-year-old Charles Aznavour , the Chœur Gospel Célébration became known nationwide within a few years. In Canadian television channels, the choir appeared in the programs "Bons baisers de France" and "En direct de l'univers" on Radio Canada as well as "La Classe de 5ème" , "Demandes spéciales" and in the "Gala Artis 2010" on the station TVA broadcast. In 2012 the choir performed at the Ottawa Bluesfest .
Awards
On February 28, 2009, the Chœur Gospel Célébration won the Pathmark Gospel Choir Competition in New York as the only foreign choir against 16 competitors from the USA . The subsequent media coverage in Canada was unprecedented for a vocal ensemble.
A year later, on June 19, 2010, the choir took part in the largest gospel festival in North America, McDonald's Gospel Festival in Newark, NJ . More than 40,000 choirs and soloists applied to take part in the prestigious competition. The Chœur Gospel Célébration won first prize in the Out-of-Town Choir category and was the first foreign choir to win in front of 17,000 spectators at the Prudential Center .
