The Belső-tó ( Hungarian for "Inner Lake") is a crater lake on the Tihany peninsula , which protrudes into Lake Balaton . The lake lies in one of the three calderas of the peninsula that formed in the Tertiary and is not connected to Lake Balaton. Tihany's second lake, Külső-tó, is located in another caldera .

Belső-tó covers an area of about 28 hectares and is about 129 m above sea level. It is a maximum of 2–3 m and an average of around 1.50 m deep. Like many crater lakes, it has no drain and is only fed by rainwater. Depending on the amount of rain, it has therefore repeatedly dried out in the past or flooded the adjacent meadows. Originally, the entire lake area was overgrown with reeds, but now the water surface is open and a reed belt largely surrounds the lake. In the past, Belső-tó served as a cattle trough, today it is used exclusively for fishing. A footpath leads around the lake.
