Chabelley ( Somali Chebele ), ( Arabic شبيلي) is a place in the south of the Arta region in Djibouti . It is located about 13 km from the capital Djibouti .
geography
The place is located south of the capital and close to the RN 5 at Wadi Chabêlléï Ouéïn , which runs from south to north and flows a few kilometers further north into the river (?) Boullé . The old railway line Djibouti – Addis Ababa (meter gauge ) with the station Chabêlléï and north of the Boullé is the Chabelley Airport . The landing strip in the desert was reserved for French military aircraft until recently. Since 2013 it has also served as a temporary base for unmanned aerial vehicles of the US Army from the nearby Camp Lemonnier Naval Expeditionary Base.
Demographics
In 2019 Chabelley had about 1,011 inhabitants. Most of them belong to various Afro-Asian-speaking ethnic groups, the most common being the Issa - Somali .
