Chacko Thottumarickal

Chacko Thottumarickal SVD (born January 7, 1949 in Kerala , India ) is a Roman Catholic Bishop of Indore .

Life

Thottumarickal, who came from the state of Kerala , joined the religious order of Steyler Missionaries in 1967 and was ordained a priest on May 11, 1979 . Thottumarickal worked for many years in the area around Jhabua in the diocese of Indore . From 1987 to 1989 he studied mass communication research and printing technology in England. Then he took over the management of the printing house of the Steyler Missionaries in Indore . Then Thottumarickal became head of the central Indian province of the Divine Word Missionaries.

After the end of his tenure, he was appointed first bishop of the new diocese of Jhabua in 2002. The diocese emerged from areas separated from the dioceses of Indore and Udaipur . Thottumarickal was the first bishop to organize the new diocese and its administration. On October 24, 2008, he was appointed Bishop of Indore. He is the successor of Bishop George M. Anathil , who was also a Steyler missionary.
