Chadschidimowo ( Bulgarian Хаджидимово ) is a small town in the center of the municipality of Hadschidimowo in Blagoevgrad Oblast , in southwestern Bulgaria .
geography
The city is located in the Nestos Valley , surrounded by the Rila and Pirin mountain ranges , the Slavyanka , Shilka and Falakro mountains and the western Rhodope Mountains .
Although the city is located in a Mediterranean climate region, winter temperatures often drop below 0 ° and summers are hot with temperatures of up to 45 ° Celsius.
history
Chadschidimowo was created through the merger of the villages of Gorna Singartia and Dolna Singartia. Throughout the 19th century, researchers recorded a predominantly ethnic Bulgarian population in the two villages with a Turkish minority.
After the merger, the settlement was called Zhostovo for a while, after the Bulgarian general Konstantin Zhostov , who was born in nearby Gaytaninovo . Today, since 1951, it bears the name of the left-wing revolutionary of the Internal Macedonian Organization of the Revolutionary Organization (IMRO), Dimo Chadshidimow . Hadschidimowo was declared a city in 1996.
