Chairesilaos

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chairesilaos ( ancient Greek Χαιρησίλαος ) is a person of Greek mythology .

It appears in the literature only in Pausanias in connection with the founding myth of the Polis Tanagra . Chairesilaos is the son of Iasios and grandson of Eleuther , who in turn is presented as the son of the god Apollon with Aithusa , a daughter of the god Poseidon . The son of Chairesilaos is the founder Tanagras Poimandros , who named the city after his wife Tanagra .

Karl Tümpel concludes from information provided by Plutarch on the family tree of Poimandros that Chairesilaos is also the grandfather of Ephippus and thus great-grandfather of the Trojan fighter Akestor .
