The Chakachamna Lake is an approximately 72 km² large lake in the southwest of Alaska (USA), almost 140 km west of Anchorage .

The 348  m high lake is located below the western flank of Mount Spurr . To the south of the lake rise the Neacola Mountains , which form part of the Aleutian chain . In the north, the lake is flanked by mountains that belong to the extreme south of the Alaska range . Chakachamna Lake extends for 15 miles in a west-east direction. It is 3.9 km wide. The mean water depth is given as 78 m. At the western end of the lake is the glacier tongue and the now created glacial rim lake of the Shamrock Glacier, which flows in a northerly direction . Further west is Kenibuna Lake , the drain of which flows into Chakachamna Lake. Other tributaries of Chakachamna Lake are the Chilligan River and Nagishlamina River , both from the north. At the eastern end of the lake, the Barrier Glacier , which drains the eastern flank of Mount Chichantna and Mount Spurr, flows into the lake. South of the lower end of the glacier, the Chakachatna River , a left tributary of the McArthur River , leaves Chakachamna Lake.

There were plans to pipeline the lake water to a future 330 MW hydroelectric power station on the McArthur River. The plans have not yet been pursued.
