The Chakragil (also Chagragil ) is a 6760  m high glaciated mountain in the eastern Pamir Mountains in Xinjiang ( PR China ).

The Chakragil is located in the county Akto in Kyrgyz Autonomous County Kizilsu . The mountain is the highest point in King Ata Tagh . About 13 km south of the Chakragil, the Gez river cuts through the mountains in an easterly direction. The Kongur rises 35 km south-southeast.

Ascent history

In September 1948, Eric Shipton and Bill Tilman attempted to climb Chakragil over the north ridge. A Japanese mountaineering group (Misao Hirano, Minoru Hachisu, Kenji Nakayama) made the first ascent on September 1, 1988.
