The Kyrgyz Autonomous District of Kizilsu ( Chinese 克孜勒蘇 柯爾克孜 自治州 , Pinyin Kèzīlèsū Kē'ěrkèzī zìzhìzhōu ; Uighur قىزىلسۇ قىرغىز ئاپتونوم ئوبلاستى / Ⱪizilsu Ⱪirƣiz Aptonom Oblasti ; from kizilsu , Kyrgyz for "red water") is a Chinese Autonomous District and is located in the southwest of the Uyghur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang . Its capital is Artux (阿圖什 市). Kizilsu has an area of 69,112 km². A city (Artux) and three districts are subordinate to the autonomous district.
In the 2000 census, Kizilsu had 439,688 inhabitants (population density: 6.36 inh / km²).
Administrative structure
At the district level, Kizilsu consists of a city and three districts. These are:
- City of Artux - 阿图什 市Ātúshí Shì ,
- Akto district - 阿克陶 县Ākètáo Xiàn ,
- Akqi County - 阿 合 奇 县Āhéqí Xiàn ,
- Ulugqat County - 乌恰 县Wūqià Xiàn .
