The Kysylsuu ( Kyrgyz Кызыл-Суу ; also Kirzlesu ; meaning "red water") forms the upper reaches of the Kaxgar River in Kyrgyzstan and in the Uyghur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang in the west of the People's Republic of China .

The Kysylsuu is fed by the glaciers northwest of the peak Pik Kurumdy on the northern slope of the eastern Transalai Mountains. It initially flows through the eastern part of the Alaital in a north-easterly direction through the Rajon Alai in the Osh region (Kyrgyzstan) and after about 50 km it crosses the border to China. Over the next 60 km, the river cuts through a mountain range in an easterly direction and passes the place Wulukeqiatixiang and takes in the right tributary Markansu . The river continues its course in an east-southeast direction through the highlands in the west of the Kyrgyz Autonomous District of Kizilsu . The place Wuheshaluxiang lies on the river. Finally he reaches the Tarim Basin and the city of Kaxgar , from which he is called Kaxgar .
