Omar Rodríguez Álvarez (born August 15, 1975 in Monterrey , Nuevo León ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of defender .

Life

Rodríguez received his first professional contract with the CD Cruz Azul , for which he made his debut in the Mexican professional league in a home game against CD Veracruz on November 9, 1996 , which ended goalless. His first goal in the top Mexican league he scored on September 4, 1999 in the home game against Santos Laguna for the 1-0 lead of the Cementeros in the 13th minute. The game ended 1-1 after international striker Jared Borgetti equalized in the 72nd minute. With Cruz Azul Rodríguez won the title of the Torneo Invierno 1997 and twice the CONCACAF Champions Cup .

In January 2002 he moved to CA Monarcas Morelia , with whom he spent the entire year 2002, and in January of the following year to CD Guadalajara , for which he played throughout the 2003 calendar year.

In early 2004 he moved to the Jaguares de Chiapas , in whose ranks he ended his footballing career in the 2005/06 season.
