The Challenger Mountains are a mountain range on Ellesmere Island in the Canadian territory of Nunavut . It is the northernmost mountain range in the world and the northernmost part of the Arctic Cordillera . The highest mountain in the Challenger Mountains is the 2225 meter high Commonwealth Mountain .
The mountain range covers an area of 14,892 km² and is located in the middle of the Quttinirpaaq National Park . The Challenger Mountains border the British Empire Range in the south and the United States Range in the east .
