At 2082 meters, the Chamechaude is the highest mountain in the Chartreuse massif, a pre-alpine mountain range in the northern French Limestone Alps . It is located about 12 kilometers north-north-east of Grenoble in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . With a notch height of 1771 meters (reference notch northeast. Léché (311 m)) it is one of the more prominent mountains in the Alps.
Ascent
The easy normal route to the summit begins at Col de Porte. Several climbing routes lead through the east face.
