Chandris is a Greek shipping company (based in London) and a hotel chain .
history
The shipping company was founded in 1915 by John D. Chandris from Chios . The entry into passenger shipping took place in 1922 . The first Chandris Hotels opened in 1973. In the 1980s, the cruise business was outsourced to the Fantasy Cruises and Celebrity Cruises companies. The latter moved its headquarters to Miami and later merged with the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line , in which Chandris has been a minority shareholder since then. Celebrity Cruises has been preserved as a brand and drives still below the Chandris logo with the characteristic X .
