Channa barca is a rare species of snakehead fish foundin northern India and Bangladesh . The type location is the Brahmaputra river (near Goyalpara in Assam , India).
features
Channa barca is one of the largest snakehead fish and can reach body lengths of 90 to 105 cm. Its mouth is large and the caudal fin is rounded. The number of vertebrae is 56. The back and sides and the reddish pectoral fins are patterned with numerous black dots. In front of the dorsal fin one counts 15 to 16 scales, above the lateral line 5.5 to 6.5 and along the lateral line 62 to 63. Two large round scales are found on each side of the lower jaw.

Channa barca digs vertical living tubes in the soil of its residential waters.
