Charles Baissac
Charles Baissac (born September 13, 1831 in Port Louis , † December 3, 1892 in Beau Bassin-Rose Hill ) was a British Romanist and French Creole and resident of the island of Mauritius .
life and work
Baissac was a French teacher at Port Louis high school in Mauritius. In the second half of the 19th century he analyzed the island's Creole and collected fairy tales and legends. His writings have recently been reprinted. His grave in Port Louis West Cemetery is a listed building .
