history
From 1788 to 1868 there was a sugar factory called the Beau-Bassin Sugar Factory. In the following years businessmen and traders settled in the area, whereupon the place Beau-Bassin was founded on November 1, 1877.
Rose Hill was originally called Blondeauville. It originated on the land of Blondeau, who previously owned a sugar factory there. When Blondeau donated parts of the place to the government, the place was renamed and Rose Hill was created on April 14, 1868. In 1896 the administration of both places was merged.
