Charles Sumner Benedict (born May 5, 1867 in Barlow Township , † November 22, 1952 in Gallipolis ) was an American sports marksman .

Charles Benedict took part in the 1908 Olympic Games in London in part, in which he took in two disciplines. In the distance of 1000 yards with the free rifle, he finished 13th with 88 points. With the army rifle, he was part of the US team, which was Olympic champion over six different distances from Great Britain and Canada . In addition to Benedict, William Leushner , William Martin , Charles Winder , Ivan Eastman and Kellogg Casey also won the gold medal. With 407 points he was the team's weakest shooter.

Benedict was a captain in the 6th Ohio Infantry and later worked as a doctor.
