Charles Gerald John Cadogan, 8th Earl Cadogan (born March 24, 1937 in Ballycastle , Scotland ) is a British entrepreneur , landowner and philanthropist .

Life

He is the only son of William Cadogan, 7th Earl Cadogan , from his first marriage to the Hon. Primrose Yarde-Buller, daughter of John Yarde-Buller, 3rd Baron Churston . As his father's apparent marriage , he carried the courtesy title Viscount Chelsea until 1997 . He attended Eton College and served as 2nd lieutenant in the Coldstream Guards .

From 1963 to 1982 he was a board member of the Chelsea FC football club . When his father died on July 4, 1997, he inherited his title of nobility as Earl Cadogan , including the associated seat in the House of Lords . The seat of parliament was lost again with the introduction of the House of Lords Act 1999 .

According to the US magazine Forbes Magazine , Cadogan is one of the richest Britons. About the family Cadogan Estates his family holds large land holdings, particularly many properties in the area Chelsea , London .

In 2012 he was named Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire .
