Charles F. Wheeler

Charles F. Wheeler , ASC (born December 15, 1915 in Memphis , Tennessee , USA ; † October 28, 2004 in Orange , California , USA) was an American cameraman .

Wheeler served as a photographer in the US Navy during World War II and was able to gain initial experience and technical skills.

He owed his career in film to Roy and Walt Disney , who met him on a polo field and hired him as camera interns. Since 1964 he worked as head cameraman, up to and including 1990 he was involved in more than 60 film and television productions.

Charles F. Wheeler was married and had a daughter, Constance, with his wife, Diane.

He died at the age of 88 from complications from his Alzheimer's disease .

The verdict of Nuremberg (1960), The Great Beetle in the Monte Carlo Rally (1976) and Star Trek: The Film (1979) were three well-known films in which Wheeler merely took the camera or took part as a photographer of additional scenes.
