Charles Haffner (born January 6, 1976 in Saargemünd ) is a French football player . He is a midfielder and has been playing for the lower class club VfB Tünsdorf in Saarland since 2017 .
Career
Charles Haffner began his career at AS Sarreguemines . He then moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken for the 1997/98 season. After only a year and a half, in which he was hardly used, he moved to FC 08 Homburg at the beginning of 1999 and six months later to SV Elversberg , where he played for three years. For the 2002/03 season Haffner moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for Karlsruher SC . In Karlsruhe, his first position in professional football, he made 22 appearances in the second highest German division; in the following season he was used in the reserve team. For the 2004/05 season Charles Haffner returned to SV Elversberg, for which he played 2 years in the Regionalliga Süd.
For the 2006/07 season he returned to 1. FC Saarbrücken, who was relegated from the 2. Bundesliga. In the DFB Cup , he shot 1. FC Saarbrücken through his 1-0 winner against Bundesliga club 1. FSV Mainz 05 into the next round. At the end of the season Haffner rose with the FCS from the regional league. Despite the relegation of the traditional club to the Oberliga Südwest, Haffner decided to stay with 1. FC Saarbrücken and extended his contract until 2009. The direct re-promotion failed and by founding the 3rd division , the Oberliga Südwest was downgraded to the fifth highest division. In the summer of 2008, the board of directors of 1. FC Saarbrücken Haffner announced that it no longer played a role in the team's planning. Cost reasons also played a role here. He then moved to his home club AS Sarreguemines.
From 2012 to 2017 Charles Haffner was responsible for the fate of SV Schwemlingen-Ballern in the Landesliga West, together with the former SV Elversberg coach , Neale Marmon, and played in midfield himself. Since 2017 he has been chasing goals for the district league club VfB Tünsdorf.
