Charles II

Charles II of Monaco (born January 26, 1555 - May 18, 1589 ) from the Grimaldi family was lord of Monaco from 1581 to 1589 .

Charles was the son of Honoré of Monaco . After his death on October 7, 1581, he took control of Monaco.

Unlike his father, Charles was stormy and impulsive and soon destroyed many of the good diplomatic relations his father had built up with Genoa, Savoy and Provence.

He died after eight years of rule in May 1589. The third oldest of his brothers Hercule took over the government .
