Charles Laeser (born September 12, 1879 in Geneva ; † July 28 or July 29, 1959 ) was a Swiss cyclist . He was the first non-French to win the fourth stage of the first Tour de France in 1903 .

Athletic career

In 1903 Laeser became Swiss champion in the standing race . At the first edition of the Tour de France in 1903, Laeser won the fourth stage after not finishing the third stage. A start in the fourth stage was technically possible, but Laeser was removed from the overall standings and had to start an hour after the drivers who were fighting for overall victory. In 1904 he took part in the Tour de France again, but did not finish a single stage.
