Charles Ng (1982)

In the early 1980s he met Leonard Lake ; on his ranch in Calaveras County , California , the two are said to have murdered up to 25 people. Ng and Lake filmed themselves raping and torturing their victims. The crimes were exposed in 1985 after Lake committed suicide for an alleged gun law violation (unlawful possession of a gun with a silencer ). As a result, police searched his ranch and found human remains.

Charles Ng has been identified as Lake's partner in the crimes. He fled to Calgary , Canada , where he was arrested by police on July 6, 1985 for shoplifting . Ng drew a gun and threatened two security guards, who overpowered him, even though he had shot one of them in the hand after a brief argument. Ng was charged with theft, illegal possession of firearms and attacking the guards and sentenced to four and a half years in a Canadian prison.

After a lengthy extradition process , Ng was handed over to the US authorities. He was charged with twelve murder counts in 1998; eleven cases - the deaths of six men, three women and two babies - could be proven. He was sentenced to death and is currently on death row in San Quentin State Prison .
