Charles Ramsay, 7th Earl of Dalhousie (* before 1729 - † January 24, 1764 in Edinburgh ) was a British nobleman and soldier.

Family, title and military career

He was the eldest son of George Ramsay, Lord Ramsay († 1739) from his marriage to Jean Maule († 1769), sister of William Maule, 1st Earl Panmure (1700–1782). His paternal grandfather was William Ramsay, 6th Earl of Dalhousie . Since his father died before his grandfather, Charles inherited his grandfather on December 8, 1739 as the 7th Earl of Dalhousie . He served as captain of the 3rd Regiment of Foot in the British Army . He was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel in 1753 and died on January 24, 1764 in the course of his service. Ramsay was not married and had no children. Therefore, his titles of nobility passed to his younger brother George .
