Charles Rathgeb

Charles Rathgeb (born April 4, 1897 in Lyon , † October 7, 1988 in Muri near Bern ) was a colonel division of the Swiss Army , a bibliophile and an honorary citizen of Wallisellen .

Life

Rathgeb completed his compulsory schooling in Lyon and Geneva. In 1921 he graduated as an electrical engineer from the ETH Zurich . 1922–1936 he worked in the private sector as an authorized signatory in Geneva. In the military he became a general staff officer and section chief of the general staff department. In 1941 he became a colonel and department head. In 1951 he was appointed divisional general and rose to become chief of weapons for the genius and fortress troops . From 1961 he was head of the reorganization of the engineering troops. Rathgeb promoted all in training courses Genie service weapons genres . At the end of 1962 he retired.

He was an avid collector of works in French literature and Byzantine studies .
