Charles Van Lerberghe

Charles Van Lerberghe (born October 21, 1861 in Ghent , † October 26, 1907 in Brussels ) was a Flemish writer and is assigned to symbolism .

Live and act

Van Lerberghe comes from a simple family and was orphaned at an early age. Désiré van den Hove, his guardian and uncle of the writer Maurice Maeterlincks , inspired him early on for modern art and literature.

At the age of six Van Lerberghe came to the Institut Saint-Amand in 1867 and attended this school until 1870. In August of the same year he moved to the Collège Sainte-Barbe .

In 1889 he became friends with Henry van de Velde . Charles Van Lerberghe died five days after his 46th birthday in Brussels and found his final resting place there.
