Charlie Eitner

Gerhard "Charlie" Eitner (born January 25, 1952 in Cottbus ) is a German guitarist of fusion jazz .

Eitner started out as a rock musician in his hometown . In 1973 he moved to East Berlin , where he studied at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy . During his studies he continued to work in rock and dance groups and also worked as a studio musician. Together with Wolfgang Fiedler , he founded the group " Fusion " in 1977 . From 1980 to 1985 he played in the Trio Unit with Fiedler and Volker Schlott (CD 1987), which was then expanded to a quartet by the percussionist Mario Würzebesser. He was also a member of Hannes Zerbe's “Blechband” and founded his trio “Splash” in 1984, with whom he played rock jazz . He was on tour with Dom Um Romao , with Christy Doran and Brigeen Doran and also performed with Stu Goldberg , Christoph Spendel , Michael Clifton and Hans Hartmann . In addition, Eitner is increasingly concentrating on solo concerts, where he also plays acoustic guitar. He plays with Ron Randolf in the East-West Connection , he forms another duo with Topo Gioia .
