Charlotte and Karl Pfeiler

Charlotte Pfeiler (* 1923 in Mühlau near Innsbruck as Charlotte Schmidt ) and Karl Pfeiler (* 1920 in Stadtschlaining , † 1990 in Innsbruck ) were an Austrian couple of architects who ran a joint office.

Life

Charlotte Schmidt graduated from high school in 1942 and then worked in Willi Stigler's office in Innsbruck. She began studying architecture at the Technical University of Munich , which she had to interrupt due to the war. From 1945 to 1947 she helped with agricultural reconstruction. From 1947 she continued her studies at the Graz University of Technology and graduated in 1949 with a diploma. She then worked again with Willi Stigler.

Karl Pfeiler graduated from Graz. After military service in World War II, he studied architecture at the Graz University of Technology and graduated in 1948 with a diploma. He then took on the construction management for the city of Graz. From 1949 he worked in the office of the builder Franz Schmidt in Innsbruck.

Charlotte and Karl Pfeiler married in 1952 and from then on ran a joint architecture office in Innsbruck. Her works include numerous school buildings and churches, several of which have been placed under monument protection.
