Charly McClain (1989)

Charly McClain (* 26. March 1956 as Charlotte Denise McClain in Memphis , Tennessee ) is an American former country singer, who celebrated their greatest success in the 1980s. With Who's Cheatin 'Who (1981), Paradise Tonight (1983, a duet with Mickey Gilley ) and Radio Heart (1985), her three number one hits in the American country charts.

Career

Charly McClain signed her first recording deal with Epic in 1976 . In the following years she was allowed to appear in the opening act for country stars such as Willie Nelson , Mel Tillis , Ronnie Milsap , Larry Gatlin , Charley Pride , Kenny Rogers , Don Williams and Eddie Rabbitt . Her hits were relatively small at first, it wasn't until 1978 that she achieved her first top 10 success in the country charts with That's What You Do to Me . A single hit in a duet with Johnny Rodriguez ( I Hate the Way I Love It , 1979) followed. The final breakthrough followed in 1981 with Who's Cheatin 'Who (number one) and Sleepin' with the Radio on (number four). McClain recorded a total of twelve solo albums for Epic, as well as two successful duet LPs with Mickey Gilley and Wayne Massey . In 1988 the singer moved to the Mercury label after several less successful singles for the album simply called Charly McClain . But even here their success continued to decline. By 1989 McClain had a total of 39 hits in the country charts. She was also nominated twice for one of the most important prizes in the country industry, the ACM Award , and occasionally tried her hand as an actress. She was seen in the series Hart aber cordially (1981) and CHiPs (1983), among others. In the early 1990s, McClain finally withdrew into private life and ended her singing career.

Private

Charly McClain has been married to country singer Wayne Massey since July 1984.
