Charly Wehrle

Charly Wehrle (born October 7, 1949 in Wangen im Allgäu ) is a German hut owner , mountaineer and author.

Life

Wehrle is the former innkeeper of the Reintalangerhütte in the Zugspitze region . In his 36-year hut innkeeping, however, not only his normal hut work was in the foreground, among other things he thought about his surroundings, the weather, climbing stories, tragic incidents, cheerful evenings and tried to loosen up everyday hut life, e.g. B. with eating together, a table tennis game or board games. He recorded such moments in writing in his books.

Wehrle and his family made their first mountain climbs at an early age, for example in 1960 when he visited the Tannheimer Berge with his brothers Werner, Wolfgang, Siegfried and his father and climbed the 2176 m high Gimpel . In 1961 he was a shepherd boy on the Gimpelalm for two months and completed the first climbing tour of difficulty IV on the Gimpel-West Ridge.

From 1964 on, Wehrle initially trained as a butcher in Ochsenhausen , which he completed in 1967 with the journeyman's examination and, interrupted by military service, in 1972 with the master craftsman. In 1978 he initially took over the Stuiben- and Oberreintalhütte , which he ran as a hut manager until 1984, when he moved to Munich. In 1986, Wehrle then took over the Reintalangerhütte as leaseholder and hut keeper, which at that time recorded 2,800 overnight stays a year. Wehrle continued to build up the hut operation, so that in 2009, when he left the Reintalangerhütte after 24 years, it already recorded 8,500 overnight stays.
