Chartered Surveyor

A Chartered Surveyor (CS) is a property surveyor in the UK , Commonwealth and Ireland who is a member of the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).

Chartered Surveyors can specialize in various ways, for example in the areas of property valuation or construction cost management. As an impartial advisor on real estate issues, your tasks are diverse. As a Chartered Building Surveyor you assess the condition of buildings and real estate, as a Chartered Civil Engineering Surveyor you advise you on construction and environmental issues, and as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor you plan construction costs or broker and manage construction contracts.

Qualification and certification

In order to qualify as a Chartered Surveyor, one must complete a training course accredited by the RICS and then pass an examination. RICS reserves the right to refuse course accreditation.
