Sven Bienert

Sven Bienert (born July 4, 1973 in Hagen ) is a professor at the International Real Estate Business School at the University of Regensburg . He is also a Chartered Surveyor .

biography

In 1995 Bienert completed his professional training as a banker at the Oldenburgische Landesbank . In 1998 he gained at the Administration and Business Academy and the German Real Estate Academy of Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg the further education estate (VWA) . In 2001 he finished his studies with a degree in business administration at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg with the distinction of “Best overall results of the year 2001/2002”. During his studies, Bienert completed internships at Engel & Völkers and Arthur Andersen Real Estate .

From January 2002 to January 2003 Bienert was employed by KPMG Consulting in the Real Estate division, from February 2003 to February 2007 he was responsible for the Real Estate Economics division at the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences in Austria. In 2004, Bienert completed his dissertation on the subject of "Effects of the new equity capital guidelines for banks ( Basel II ) on project financing in the real estate industry" with summa cum laude. Since February 2003 he has been involved in teaching at various universities. Since April 2010 he has held the professorship for sustainability in the real estate industry at the IREBS , Institute for Real Estate Management at the University of Regensburg, and was the director of the institute from 2013 to 2019. His research focuses on the development and integration of new approaches in the field of sustainability as well as methodical analysis.

From April 2007 to January 2011, Bienert headed the Real Estate division at KPMG Financial Advisory Services throughout Austria. Furthermore, from February 2011 to March 2013, Bienert was Managing Director of Probus Real Estate GmbH in Austria and was responsible for approx. 2.1 billion euros in assets under management in 12 countries. He is also co-publisher of the European assessment standards (EVS 2009) and is also involved in various industry associations on the board and in numerous committees, such as the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB eV), the Central Real Estate Committee (ZIA), the Austrian Association of Real Estate Experts (ARE), the Association for the Promotion of Quality in the Real Estate Industry (ImmQu), the Institute for Corporate Governance in the German Real Estate Industry (ICG) and until 2017 as a fellow at the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Since 2014, Bienert has also been head of the “Real Estate Commission” of the German Association for Financial Analysis and Asset Management (DVFA eV). He has extensive experience as a sworn and court-certified expert and is constantly active as a consultant and lecturer.

Prof. Bienert was a member of the supervisory board of CA Immobilien Anlagen AG from 2016 to 2018 . He has been on the supervisory board of ZIMA Holding AG since June 2015 and of Immofinanz AG since May 2019 .

Awards

In 2005, Bienert won the 2nd prize for his dissertation at the real estate research award of the Society for Real Estate Research (gif). In 2007, Bienert received the Gerald Brown Memorial Prize in the Best Paper Presented on Real Estate Investment category. In 2011 Bienert received the Best Paper Award in the Appraisal Studies category at the European Real Estate Society (ERES) Conference 2011 and the RICS Best Paper Award on Sustainability at the European Real Estate Society Conference 2012. Bienert received the award for the development of the ZIA's Green Lease Guide as a member of the project group the Real Estate Manager Award 2013. Furthermore, in 2013 his teaching was recognized by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as a "Global Showcase" in accordance with the UN Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).

In 2013, Bienert and Hirsch won the real estate research award of the Society for Real Estate Research (gif) for the ImmoRisk research project on the quantification of climate risks in the real estate sector. Bienert also received the Emerald Outstanding Paper Award in 2016 together with Braun and Hirsch for their publication "Assessment of climatic risks for real estate" in the Property Management journal.
