Chausseehaus Garsena

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Garsena Chausseehaus is a monument in the town of Könnern in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt .

Since large sums of money were spent building the Prussian state show lakes, they were very interested in their durability and hired numerous people to supervise the streets and make sure they were in good condition. They were the so-called road attendants. Since the road toll was also to be paid, there were also collectors, so that buildings were built for these people along the roads in which they could live permanently with their families. Such high street buildings often have the same construction in a street and are often found on otherwise lonely sections of the road.

The road houses on the Kunststraße from Magdeburg via Halle (Saale) to Großkugel on the Saxon border, which were built between 1788 and 1801, are elongated buildings with several axes that stand close to the street. The example south of Garsena is not quite as extensive as the Chausseehaus in the north of Beidersee , which was probably enlarged later. It almost resembles the Chausseehaus near Bennstedt , as there are low-rise buildings as farm buildings, like here in the backyard. The building complex was presumably completed in 1797 together with the Bernburg –Halle street , but no later than in 1800, when the postal route was officially relocated to this street.

The Chausseehaus is a listed building , which is by no means a matter of course because of the residential function that is often found today, because some Chausseehaus, such as the one in Grube Ferdinande or the one in Eisleben, were later structurally changed so much that they were not granted protection status. It is registered in the monument register with registration number 094 60870. Nearby is the Garsena Whole Milestone .
