Chausseehaus Köchstedt

The Köchstedt Chausseehaus is located on Eislebener Straße between Bennstedt and Langenbogen in the Saale district in Saxony-Anhalt . It stands in the corridor of Köchstedt and is therefore named after the village on the other side of federal highway 80 .

When the Kingdom of Westphalia was formed, new connections were built, which bore the name Chaussee and were in some cases similarly equipped as the Prussian state show lakes . It has not yet been fully clarified why the Chaussee houses on the (French) Chaussee Halle-Langenbogen, which were built in 1809 and 1810, are constructed in the same way as the Chausseehouses on the Prussian Chaussee Magdeburg-Halle-Leipzig (cf. Chausseehaus Sylbitz ). Presumably the drafts were used and they were built according to them. It stands west of the bridge over the Würdebach .

The Chausseehaus Köchstedt was opened in 1810, just like the one in Nietleben, the main purpose of the Chaussee was to connect the two royal lignite mines in Langenbogen and Zscherben to the royal saltworks in Halle (Saale) , to which it had branches. Here, at the old connection between Halle and Eisleben, a house was built for the employees who are responsible for collecting the tolls and maintaining the road. In 1871, four years before the road tax was abolished, eleven people lived here. At the end of the 19th century, the Bennstedt station was built at the bend in the Würdebach, where a branch line branched off, which ran directly behind the Chausseehaus and ended at the Langenbogen sugar factory.

In 1934 the Chaussee became Reichsstraße 80, then Fernverkehrsstraße 80. Then it was replaced by a new route and downgraded to a state road and is now part of the L 156 in this section, while the new route is a few hundred meters south of the Chausseehaus , which is federal highway 80. The Chausseehaus now serves as a residential building, opposite a commercial area for the neighboring community of Zappendorf, and to the south-east an allotment garden that stretches to Bennstedt and the B 80.
