The Chautauqua Lake is a lake in Chautauqua County in the US state of New York .

The crescent-shaped body of water with a length of 25 and a maximum width of 3.3 kilometers has a surface of 53 square kilometers, making it the fourth largest lake in the state. The lake, which is up to 23 meters deep, has 66 kilometers of shoreline, all of which, with the exception of four kilometers, are privately owned by the neighboring properties. The main town on Chautauqua Lake is the small town of Jamestown on the southeastern tip, from which the lake's only drainage drains: the Chadakoin River, a 16-kilometer-long third-degree tributary of the Ohio River . With numerous small tributaries, the catchment area of the lake measures 470 square kilometers.

The lake is mainly used as a recreation area, is a popular sailing area and can be visited by tourists, for example by boat. It is also world-famous among anglers as an excellent area for fishing the muscle lungs . Around its geographical center in Bemus Point, the Chautauqua Lake has a significant narrowing, at which it is only 280 meters wide. There is a ferry service between the two banks, while Interstate 86 runs 600 meters further over the Veterans Memorial Bridge, which opened on October 30, 1982.
