Che & Ray

Che & Ray are a Swiss boogie-woogie duo from Zurich , consisting of Jean-Marc "Che" Peyer (born May 7, 1950 ) and Raymond "Ray" Fein (born August 20, 1950 ).

Career

Jean-Marc Peyer (Che) and Raymond Fein (Ray) know each other from school and began playing boogie-woogie together in 1968. They played their first concert in January 1975 at the Bucheggplatz Theater in Zurich and in the same year they released their first album "Giants Of Boogie-Woogie & Blues". In 1977 they received their first gold record from a total of seven gold awards and one made of platinum. They have toured Europe twice with Manhattan Transfer . The majority of her repertoire consists of boogie-woogie and blues original compositions, quickly played on grand pianos and electric pianos, partly with blues harp interludes by Che Peyer . There are also classics by Ludwig van Beethoven and Scott Joplin to rock'n'roll by Jerry Lee Lewis .

After the record debut as Che & Ray: 1975 with “Giants of Boogie-Woogie & Blues”, tours through Europe follow, partly together with Manhattan Transfer and Paul Anka . Her second record "Burning the Boogie" received gold and platinum status. They played over 3,200 concerts, reached 3 million concert-goers and sold well over 300,000 records. The duo appeared on three Saturday night shows on BBC One in London.

In 2005 the duo stopped working; since then Che Peyer has performed solo.
