Chemdat (Hebrew: חֶמְדָּת) is a community settlement founded in 1979 in the Bik'at HaJarden regional administration in the West Bank (also Judea and Samaria ). In 2017 the place had 248 inhabitants.

Surname

The place was named after the river Nachal Jabbok in the East Bank ( Jordan ), which flowed through the Gilead mentioned in the Bible and formed the border of the Ruben and Gad tribes ( Num 21.24  EU ; Dtn 2.37  EU ; 3.16 EU ; Jos 12,2  EU ; Ri 11,13  EU .22 EU ). Took place on its shores by Gen 32.23 to 33  EU the struggle of Jacob with God and the angels representing him ( Hos 12,4f  EU ). In 1981 the place was renamed Chemdat.
