Chemed (Hebrew חֶמֶד) is a moshav in the regional administration Emek Lod in central district of Israel . In 2018 Chemed had 1257 inhabitants. The name of the moshav is an acronym for Ch ailim M eschuchrarim D atim ( חֲ ייִלִים מְ שֻׁחְרֲרִים דָּ תִיִּים ; German: discharged, Orthodox soldiers), because the place was founded in 1950 by Orthodox soldiers of the IDF who were discharged from military service .
