The VfB Fortuna Chemnitz is a football club from the Saxon town of Chemnitz . It was created in 2005 from a merger of the two Chemnitz soccer clubs VfB Chemnitz and SV Fortuna Furth Glösa . The club's colors are blue and yellow. Home to the stadium on Clausstraße and the stadium on Kurt-Wieland-Straße , the current stadium is the stadium on Chemnitztalstraße .
Club history
The club's history is mainly characterized by the frequent renaming. The association was founded in 1901 as Reunion Chemnitz . In 1914 the name was changed to FC Hohenzollern . From 1919 they played as VfB Chemnitz. In 1938 there was a merger with SV Teutonia 1901 Chemnitz , the new club name was now the Sportvereinigung 01 Chemnitz . After the end of the war the association started under the name SG Chemnitz Schloß . After that, too, there were several name changes. Then one played as BSG trade and social insurance , later under the probably best known name BSG Motor " Fritz Heckert " Karl-Marx-Stadt . After the reunification, the club was called Chemnitzer Sportverein 51 Heckert . VfB Chemnitz was founded on January 26th, 1996. In April 2005, VfB merged with SV Fortuna Furth. The merger of the two clubs was necessary for sporting and financial reasons.
Athletic career
The VfB was in the district league (until 1923) and Gauliga Central Saxony (until 1933) mostly in midfield. In 1919 the club won the championship in the Central Saxony Gau, which entitles them to participate in the Central German championship. Here VfB lost 2: 3 to the Dresden Football Ring in the second round . In the GDR, the club played continuously in the GDR league since 1978 , after the turnaround first in the NOFV league, season B. From the 1991/92 season to 2002/03, the club played in the Oberliga Nordost , which was first the third , later corresponded to the fourth division. While they were initially able to keep up in the upper third of the table, the club couldn't do this again towards the end of the 1990s. After the merger, VfB played in the sixth class Saxony league from 2008 and mostly performed in the upper third of the table. In the 2010/11 season he returned to the league. In 2012/13 they went back to the Sachsenliga, a year later to the district league.
SV Teutonia 1901 Chemnitz
The predecessor club SV Teutonia Chemnitz, with which VfB Chemnitz merged in 1938, was founded on November 1st, 1901. The home of the club was the Westkampfbahn . The club colors were blue and white. Teutonia played nine years in the Gauliga Middle Saxony, whose championship was won in 1918. In the subsequent games for the Central German Championship, the Chemnitz team were eliminated in the quarter-finals after an 8-1 defeat against the Dresden SG 1893 . Teutonia was relegated to the district class by 1937.
