Cheryl lights

Cheryl Lichter (* in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American singer , music teacher, and conductor.

education

She studied at the University of Illinois, where she received extensive training as a music teacher, conductor, and singing subject, and where she won the 1974 Rotary International Scholarship. She used this to study singing at the University of Toronto ( Canada ). Later she continued studying in Germany.

Career

She had her first permanent engagement in 1978 at the Trier Theater . After she was first used as a coloratura soubrette , she switched to the lyric coloratura subject.

In 1983 she came to Linz, where her first role at the Linz State Theater was 'Belisa' in Don Perlimplin Loves Belisa (by Balduin Sulzer ) and 'Gilda' in Rigoletto . Since then she has been used in many great roles.

She sang the Queen of the Night (Magic Flute) over a hundred times in 19 opera houses, where she worked with Francisco Araiza , Gösta Winbergh and Matti Salminen , among others . She sang the role in Zurich in the famous Mozart cycle by Jean-Pierre Ponnelle under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt .

Cheryl Lichter has worked in all musical styles, not only in operas and operettas as well as musicals, but also in concerts.

The world premiere of Peter Androsch's Die cunning widow took place in Linz's Eisenhandtheater on May 9, 2007 , with Cheryl Lichter playing the title role of the play about serial killer Elfriede Blauensteiner .
