Chester Gorman
Chester Gorman (born March 11, 1938 in Oakland , † June 7, 1981 in Sacramento ) was an American anthropologist and archaeologist .
Chester Gorman grew up on his parents' dairy farm in Elk Grove , California . He studied at Sacramento State University and later at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu , where he received his master's degree and doctorate.
Chester Gorman worked mainly in Southeast Asia . His main excavation activities included the Ban Chiang site in Isan (northeastern Thailand) and the Phimaen Cave in northern Thailand . The Phimaen Cave is one of the most important sites of the Hoabinhian culture.
Chester Gorman died of cancer on June 7, 1981 in Sacramento.
