history

After Chestermere Lake was created for irrigation, more and more residents came to the city, not least because of the quiet location and proximity to Calgary (18 km). On March 1, 1993, the municipality with then 1043 inhabitants was finally registered as the Town of Chestermere . After some of the surrounding communities in Calgary were incorporated, the incorporation of Chestermeres itself was questionable for a while.
