Cheyenne is an American western series that was produced between 1955 and 1963 with Clint Walker in the title role.
action
"Cheyenne" Bodie grew up with Cheyenne Indians after the death of his parents and learned to appreciate their way of life and culture. After retiring from the military, where he worked as a scout during the Civil War , he moved through the Wild West . As a lonely rescuer in an emergency, he always intervenes when people are in need. Nevertheless, he only uses his weapon as a last resort, instead he tries to mediate with words.
background
Due to the huge popularity of the series in 1958, Walker demanded a higher fee from Warner Bros. Warner, however, refused to be put under pressure and replaced Walker with Ty Hardin , who took on the role of the protagonist as Bronco Layne . Walker signed a new contract in 1959 and got his role back. Hardin's Bronco Layne then got his own series with Bronco . Both series shared a slot and were broadcast alternately, so the series only had a total of 107 episodes despite its seven-year duration. Occasionally, the two title characters also appeared together by means of plot overlaps.
Cheyenne was the first western series to run for an hour (commercial breaks included).
DVD release
In 2006 Warner Home Video released the series' first season on DVD ; The second season followed in 2011 and the third season in 2012.
