Chhota Imambara ( Urdu چھوٹا امامباڑا, Hindi छोटा इमामबाड़ा ; literally "Imam's Little House") is a mausoleum in Lucknow . Initially built as Hussainia in 1837, the third nawab of Awadh , Muhammad Ali Shah, and his mother are buried there. Chhota Imambara is also known as the Palace of Light because of its festive lighting . The building is located in the middle of a Char Bagh , a Persian garden typical of this region .
