Chiara Caselli (born May 7, 1967 in Bologna ) is an Italian actress .

Life

Caselli took acting lessons in her hometown, attended the Actors Studio with Dominic De Fazio and played theater at the "Teatro Stabile" in Bologna. She made her debut in Franco Maselli's film Il segreto in 1989. Two years earlier she had already acted on television. She quickly developed into an internationally sought-after actress who was able to show her skills in France, the United States (with her breakthrough in My Private Idaho ) and her home country. The short woman with an angular, light face, black eyes and disturbing loveliness was particularly praised by the critics for her work in Marco Tullio Giordana's La neve sul fuoco , in the last film Michelangelo Antonionis and Liliana Cavanis Hear your laugh , for which interpretation she u . a. won the Nastro d'Argento . Caselli played international roles under Gus Van Sant , Jaco Van Dormael and Julien Donada . She also shows a preference for auteur filmmakers and Italian directors.

In addition to her acting career, Caselli also worked as a director of short films (for the first, Per semoe , she received another Nastro d'Argento) and as a photographer. As such, she was represented at the 2011 Biennale di Venezia .
